A program that supports bilingual and multicultural journalism in Idaho by providing paid internships, mentorship, and media training to students from diverse backgrounds—expanding local news representation
Local news in Idaho is struggling to recruit and retain the next generation of journalists. Idaho colleges aren’t training students for careers in a fast-changing and competitive media landscape.
Voces focuses on the internship experience of the students themselves first. We prepare them to succeed in their host newsrooms and a challenging industry after that. That’s why we choose placement newsrooms, mentors and offer training and career guidance catered to each student.
Voces Internship of Idaho aims to strengthen Idaho’s local news infrastructure by building a more inclusive and representative journalism pipeline, particularly in rural and historically excluded communities. We provide paid journalism interns complete with mentorship and financial support, and supplimental career and journalism training.
