Organization providing technology, training, and resources for launching sustainable local news outlets.
A growing crop of diverse, community-centered news and information leaders producing more imaginative products and experiences face higher barriers to entry and have greater needs of support for their development and sustainability. We believe they deserve a better shot at receiving targeted resources and support; that's why we focus on early-stage news entrepreneurs — the future of local news — who are launching community-rooted outlets.
We do that through providing a tech stack, consulting and advice, fiscal sponsorship and access to services and tools to build their businesses from the ground up. We also nurture a community of founders who support one another through mutual understanding and aid, leaning into what it means to be a collective.
Fiscal sponsorship provides an opportunity for outlets that are not non-profits to receive grant dollars and tax-deductible dollars from donors of all sizes, and we provide additional training and support to help fiscal sponsees understand grant and donor management requirements. We provide this to members and clients, at differentiated rates.
