Resource for science journalists providing tools and training.
Every story is a science story. Yet fewer than 3 percent of journalists are trained to cover science, health, or the environment—and access to such training is both scarce and inequitable. The Open Notebook equips journalists with the skills, tools, and community support they need to produce evidence-based reporting that informs the public and empowers society.
The Science Reporting Navigator is an interactive toolkit designed in partnership with the Reynolds Journalism Institute to help journalists on any beat confidently incorporate scientific evidence, perspectives, or context into their reporting—no matter their background or deadline.
Target Issues
We’ve published more than 600 articles on the craft of science journalism, including reported features on topics such as finding story ideas, conducting effective interviews, and telling stories that have enduring impact, as well as story-behind-the-story interviews.
